Black Knight Launches Innovative MLS Paragon Regional Data Server to Support Data Sharing Between ValleyMLS.com and the Greater Alabama MLS

Data transfer

  • Black Knight recently implemented the Paragon Regional Data Server solution to power the next generation of data sharing among multiple listing service (MLS) organizations in the state of Alabama and support the long-term data-sharing needs of their brokers and agents
  • The solution was developed through collaboration with two of the largest MLS organizations in Alabama – ValleyMLS.com, Inc. and the Greater Alabama MLS (GALMLS)
  • Black Knight’s Regional Data Server solution was built using the Real Estate Standard Organization’s Data Dictionary and serves as a hub to facilitate data sharing between Paragon and non-Paragon MLS systems
  • com and GALMLS both utilize Black Knight’s Paragon MLS system and now have access to each other’s listings without having to leave their own system

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 22, 2021 – Black Knight, Inc. (NYSE:BKI) today announced the launch of the Paragon Regional Data Server, an innovative solution that enables multiple listing service (MLS) organizations across Alabama to share data regardless of the MLS systems they use. The solution was developed through a collaboration with two of the largest MLS organizations in Alabama – ValleyMLS.com, Inc. and the Greater Alabama MLS (GALMLS).

Both ValleyMLS.com and GALMLS use Black Knight’s industry-leading Paragon MLS platform, and were looking for a way to share listing data without leaving their existing systems. They also wanted the flexibility to add other MLSs in the future. Leveraging the Real Estate Standards Organization’s (RESO) Data Dictionary, Black Knight implemented modern, highly flexible and adaptable technology to enable data sharing between the organizations. The technology solution also provides the ability for additional MLSs to join ValleyMLS.com and GALMLS in data sharing as well.

Data from ValleyMLS.com and GALMLS is now being routed through Black Knight’s Paragon Regional Data Server, which serves as a common hub for the data exchange. Since the Paragon Regional Data Server utilizes a native RESO Data Dictionary format, the system can serve as an engine for future data exchange opportunities to support brokers, MLSs and agents.

“We are pleased with the successful outcome of our data-sharing project,” said Cindi Peters-Tanner, ValleyMLS.com Chair. “Our members now benefit from access to GALMLS listings, which will be especially helpful to brokers with locations across both MLS areas. Now, brokers only need to be a member of one MLS, which will create efficiencies and cost savings for them. Additionally, our members will benefit from greater exposure of their listings, and with a single point for data distribution, vendors will be able to obtain MLS data from one place.”

“We are always looking for solutions that will help our members be more successful,” said Chris Wood, GALMLS President. “With access to more listings, and by using the MLS system they already know and are familiar with, our members will be able to deliver better service to their clients. By working with Black Knight, we now have an effective solution to support a potential statewide data sharing initiative in the future, without members having to join multiple MLS organizations.”

ValleyMLS.com serves nine counties in the north-central area of Alabama, and GALMLS, located in Birmingham, Ala., covers 12 counties. Paragon is Black Knight’s industry-leading, next-generation MLS platform that includes a multitude of modern features and capabilities, such as a mobile-optimized solution for on-the-go access to critical listing and client information. Paragon is used by over 200 MLSs and real estate associations across the U.S. and Canada.

Sam DeBord, CEO of RESO, added, “By using the RESO Data Dictionary data format, Black Knight’s Paragon Regional Data Server facilitates the seamless exchange of data and enables easy integration of other MLS systems into the Alabama data-sharing solution. The RESO Data Dictionary creates a universal language for real estate data, helping ensure that technology systems can speak the same language.”

“Black Knight is continuously focused on collaborating with our clients to deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions,” said Black Knight Data & Analytics Executive Vice President of Real Estate Solutions Chip McAvoy. “We are honored to partner with ValleyMLS.com and GALMLS, and to help develop a solution that solves their data-sharing needs. Our Regional Data Server provides the modern, flexible and adaptable architecture needed to effectively support the Open MLS concept our customers – and others in the industry – have been asking for.”
